Things that make you think
"If only I knew then, what I know now...".
No matter your upbringing, ethnicity, or religious beliefs - one thing is sure.
Growing up means facing difficult challenges.
From the very beginning as infants - we are faced with the daunting challenge of learning how to walk. Slowly but surely, after countless wobbles and fall downs, our little legs begin to stabilize and we take our first steps.
At the time we may not realize it, but even then in those very early, formative months - our resilience towards the unknown is amazingly high.
Falling down wasn't looked bad upon. We didn't internalize it as a failure. Our self imagine wasn't altered by our repeated failed attempts at walking.
We just Kept. Getting. Up.
And eventually, with enough practice - we were up and off to the races.
Fast forward five or six years though, and almost every one of us would of already began experiencing a change in how we felt about failing and facing the unknown.
For most of us, it wasn't long before anything that was not known - became scary. Somewhere along the way, we were all initiated into a lifelong relationship with fear.
Fear is of course absolutely normal, and in some cases - even a very positive thing.
This is just the human condition, and part of the rules of this thing called life.
But it's important to understand, that this interaction with fear - is truly a lifelong endeavor. A dance partner that is with us our entire lives.
No matter your age, education, or mental aptitude - Fear has, and will ALWAYS - play a role in our thinking, and thus the very outcome of our lives.
So fast forward now to the present and think about how fear has shaped your life...
It's nothing to be ashamed of, a very large majority of our subconscious decision making is directly impacted by our response and beliefs about fear.
Our relationships, our careers, our levels of personal happiness, fulfillment, and success... ALL directly impacted with how we relate with and respond to this emotion called fear.
Now imagine being able to go back in time and teach yourself how to understand fear and how to use it to your advantage to navigate through life's challenges.
Where would you be today? How would you have handled some of those tough moments in life that you went through?
After studying the science of fear for over forty years and working with everyone from single mothers in shelters, to veterans dealing with PTSD, law enforcement, Tier 1 military, top performing athletes and celebrities -
One thing I can promise you.. they ALL feel fear.
The differences are in how they respond and interact with it.
So here's the thing, as a father myself - we can't go back in time and change the outcome of our lives by learning how to understand fear...
But we CAN teach our kids and help shape their futures by teaching them how to recognize when and how fear impacts their thinking.
After more than 4 decades of teaching these skills and tens of thousands of life changing testimonials, I know how big of a life changing impact this training can be.
So my goal now is to get the KNOW FEAR® program into the hands of as many parents as possible.
I'm confident it will make a positive impact in your life and your child's life too.
